You hold in your hands the result of these sessions, recorded in Lyon. A powerful sound, a constant interaction, the suspense of the moment, two complementary musical partners delighting in each other alone: the same, but totally different. “Our idea wasn’t to swing like Basie, but to groove in our own way.”

Far from betraying the melodic foundations, the continuous flux produced by this pair of free jazz electrons keeps bringing us back to the bosom of Afro-American identity – blues and gospel – already present in the versions by Oliver Nelson.
